Hackerspace Code of Conduct
Purpose
This code of conduct establishes guidelines for maintaining a productive learning environment where students can explore technology and cybersecurity safely and responsibly.
Expected Behavior
Respectful Communication: Treat all members professionally and courteously
Knowledge Sharing: Help others learn and share expertise constructively
Collaborative Learning: Work together on projects and support skill development
Constructive Feedback: Provide helpful technical feedback on projects and ideas
Professional Conduct: Maintain appropriate behavior in all interactions
Unacceptable Behavior
Harassment: Unwelcome conduct that creates a hostile environment
Illegal Activities: Engaging in or promoting illegal computer activities
Malicious Actions: Using technical skills to harm systems, data, or individuals without permission
Disruptive Behavior: Intentionally disrupting meetings, presentations, or learning activities
Unauthorized Access: Attempting to access systems without proper authorization
Technical Ethics
Security Research Guidelines
Permission Required: Only test security on systems you own or have explicit written permission to test
Lab Environments: Use isolated testing environments (VMs, dedicated lab networks) for security exercises
Legal Compliance: Operate within all applicable laws and regulations
Responsible Disclosure: Report security vulnerabilities through appropriate channels
Equipment and Resources
Shared Equipment: Handle all equipment with care and report any damage
Clean Workspace: Maintain tidy shared spaces
Fair Access: Share resources equitably among members
Proper Use: Use equipment only for intended educational purposes
Meetings and Events
Punctuality: Arrive on time for scheduled activities
Participation: Engage constructively in discussions and workshops
Focus: Keep discussions relevant to the topic at hand
Preparation: Come prepared for scheduled activities

Consequences
Violations may result in:
Verbal warning and guidance, temporary suspension from activities, permanent removal from organization or reporting to authorities for illegal activities
Amendments
This code of conduct may be updated as needed. Members will be notified of changes.
